She is a member of the Symphonic Band, the Emerald Flutes and the EMU Flute Studio.

She earned her master’s degree at Michigan State University, East Lansing, and is a music teacher at National Heritage Academies in Ann Arbor. ■ Claire Barnich, a graduate of EMU with a bachelor’s degree in music education. Two former students are flutists and will perform classical pieces.” Music selections include showtunes, spiritual, opera and classical.

Many of the students performing will be singing. “Most of them are teaching, performing or working in the music business. “These students went on to major in music at the university level,” Brodie said.

The concert will highlight vocalists and instrumentalists from Monroe and Grosse Ile high schools.Īccording to Catherine Brodie, a retired music educator from Monroe Public Schools and Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, who organized the event, this is the first time former students will perform in the IHM Chapel Concert Series which started in 2003. Former music students will be featured Sunday at the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Motherhouse.
